Through three generations of letters, medical records, the the author's autobiographical comics, To Whoever Even Listen explores the legacy of intergenerational trauma, mental illness, and memory. From a Japanese emigrant institutionalized in psychiatric hospitals, to the dysfunctional home life of the second generation, to the present day expression of pain in the third generation during the 2020 global pandemic, this multimedia graphic memoir interweaves narratives to ask, "What does it mean to be crazy? And what does it mean to be believed?"
