In 1941, up-and-coming reported Lillian Lewis lives at least three lives: She's the daughter of a prominent Black family by day, a bar-hopping butch lesbian by night, and she passes as white at work, where she's stuck writing fluffy "women's pieces." When a mysterious masked woman starts protecting queer bars from police raids, Lillian goes after the story that could launch her career.
